A phishing mob suspect has been arrested in Massachussetts and ordered held on $100,000 bond for being part of a phishing scam operation. The suspect, originally from Russia,  was found to have the personal information of at least 100 people who have fallen victims to phishing attacks. In addition, Andrew Schwarmkoff, 28, has found in possession of $200,000 in stolen goods and $15,000 cash.

The increasing efforts of law enforcement to detect and detain such attackers is paying off, however, it may be too slow. A July study showed that the monthly increase in phishing attacks was 39%. Source. Even with increased detection efforts by law enforcement and user education by the technology sector - phishing remains one of the major threats on the Net.
